Taking care of your baby’s skin is always easier with the right products! After reading through my product suggestions, be sure to check parts 1 and 2 of my “must have” product recommendations, baby carriers, infant sleep aids, infant seats & car seats, and baby feeding essentials: breast pumps, highchairs & baby feeding accessories.
Baby Skin Care
There are so many different brands of skin care items for baby. I think that in reality, there are only a few things that you really should have around. A good baby wash that also doubles as a baby shampoo. My favorites are Burt’s Bees, California Baby, and Seventh Generation. They are all gentle, have safe ingredient profiles, and are easy to find. A good moisturizer is also another “must have”. Again, Burt’s Bees, California Baby, and Seventh Generation are my favorites. Next comes a great diaper cream. My absolute favorite is the old standby, Desitin, which has lanolin and vitamin E even though it is a “mainstream” product. However, if you desire something more “natural,” Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is a winner. A petroleum ointment like Aquaphor is excellent for dry skin, eczema, or if you need something to serve as a water barrier (like in the case of diaper rash). However, if you desire something petroleum-free, Avalon’s petroleum-free jelly is the way to go. Finally, sunscreen is another essential. My favorites are Think Baby and Seventh Generation for their ease of use (they rub in well), and their safety profiles.
