Pregnancy Day By Day's Rating

Reading this book will help you be:

Empowered 3 Healthier 4 Happier 3 Prepared for Birth 3

From the moment I laid eyes on all the stock photography, I thought Pregnancy Day By Day would be trite or superficial and likely full of safety warnings, sentimental descriptions of sweet maternal feelings, and development information about your growing baby. You know the type – nothing inaccurate or terribly offensive, but lacking in empowering substance. I was wrong! It is so much more.

Pregnancy Day By Day is a general guidebook covering a wide breadth of topics, rather than a few topics in-depth. It provides a great overview of pregnancy and does a fabulous job of presenting many options with honor and respect for all choices. It is one of the only books I’ve read that doesn’t seem to favor either natural birth or medical management and epidurals. I applaud the authors for their neutrality and accuracy. Most impressive, they succinctly offer information that is truly practical, both for pregnancy and for birth preparation. They cover information about the first two weeks postpartum, newborns, and your six-week checkup post birth. If read as your primary pregnancy and birth guidebook, you may find that there are topics that you’ll want to dive into more deeply through another book. This is a very good basic start. On most topics it will be all you need.

Pregnancy Day By Day can be read two pages per day, as it is laid out, or you can use the index to find information by subject. The day-by-day approach is nice for envisioning your baby in each amazing stage of development and also for carving out a few minutes to learn a manageable bit of pregnancy/birth knowledge each day. The index is well done and useful when you have a question or want to focus on a particular topic.
